A New Collaboration - Post 3 of 4
Have you felt it before? You walk into a store and you know it’s good. Sometimes you don’t even feel like leaving (often to the slight discomfort of the salesperson).
This is what happens at Brickhouse Clothing. You can feel the fun and welcoming atmosphere. (And Lana would be okay with your staying for awhile. I know this from experience.)
Why? Because that’s what Lana intends: “I want my customers to feel happy. And just have fun. And be comfortable.” Success, Lana. Success.
As you walk in, you are greeted by rich colors, great fabrics and space to explore. Every time I walk in, I am instantly excited – where to start? Clothes and jewelry and purses and shoes?! And a sweet sales rack? Oh my.
In Lana's words: "You get excited when you shop. It's like pheromones or something. It's exciting!" Yep, that about sums it up. (And a fun fact: I Google'd pheromones to be sure we weren't being too risqué and they're just 'behaviour-altering agents.' Like in a good way.)
One of Lana’s pet peeves is the ‘sweatpants syndrome.’
In our interview, she mentions the Seinfeld episode where Jerry scolds George: "You know the message you're sending out to the world with these sweatpants? You're telling the world, 'I give up. I can't compete in normal society. I'm miserable, so I might as well be comfortable.'"
Lana completely agrees with Jerry and says: “Clothes make you feel like you’re doing something. You feel good, like you've dressed up for a purpose."
And I agree with Lana - if I take the time to dress well, I'm caring for myself. That sends a signal to my whole being that yes, I believe I am awesome. And then I go out and rock the day.
As a side note, I didn't always feel great about clothes. I used to feel bad for wanting new clothes and accessories. "I shouldn't want that," I thought. "I can make do with what I have."
'Make do.' Huh.
A 'make do' attitude actually only ends up in barely getting by. It doesn't allow for thriving. I'm slowly learning this.
Lana gets this. She understands that if you feel good, you do good. And between you and me and the rest of the world, we can use more good, amiright?
Now if you'll excuse me -
I have to go shopping now. (The Pretty Woman line. So good. Lana would totally be the helpful sales lady and not the nasty ones.)
P.S. Since you're a savvy shopper...the Love Yourself Collection is already at Brickhouse Clothing in Humboldt (!!!). So you can get the trend before everyone else does. Just sayin'.
P.P.S. The Love Yourself Collection will be available online in our store this Wednesday, June 1st. Sign up for our newsletter today and you'll get a perk on Wednesday when this beauty launches.
This large decal on Lana's mirror is a big version of a decal in the Love Yourself Collection. So. Much. Fun!
